Like gleaming white,
milk glisten white seagull,
proud plumage composing symphony with the wind.
arms open wide.
Like dimpled infant,
ripe as sun stained fruit
and full of possibility,
arms open wide.
Like rose geranium,
who’s hardy roots pave paths
to perfume in concrete places,
arms open wide.
Like friendship,
who sucks poison from my thumb,
tucks it into rose petals,
arms open wide.
Like my body,
transferred through many hands,
making light work of my hurt,
arms open wide.
And so pains only remedy,
is to let your eyes kiss the sky,
to let your body fall into it,
let your body fall into it,
arms open wide.
